TAPROOM Manager

Fair Isle’s taproom sets the tone of the space and ensures the customer has the fullest experience.  The Taproom Manager’s responsibilities are to provide smooth service in the tasting room, create a welcoming environment for customers and address their concerns. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in a leadership or management position at a restaurant, winery, brewery or other hospitality venue. Existing beer/brewing knowledge is a plus, but the emphasis is on elevating customer experience and hospitality.



 

Assistant Brewer

This position is a dynamic role which requires an organized, self-motivated, and reliable individual who will work as part of the team in a startup brewery environment. The Assistant Brewer will be expected to assist with weekly production needs at the direction of the Management Team including cellaring, wort production, cleaning, yeast handling, CIP’s, transferring, bottling and packaging.

Enthusiasm for working outside your job description is critical to thrive at Fair Isle.


 

 

 

Taproom Manager

Taproom Manager is expected to work fifty percent on the floor and fifty percent in management responsibilities.

Fair isle is a brewery starting up so thus the Taproom Manager must be adaptable, agile and comfortable working in a fluid environment.

       

Customer Experience

  • Maintain a welcoming, educational and inviting experience in the taproom.

  • Manage guest satisfaction and overall brewery visitor experience.

  • Manage taproom inventory ordering and control.

  • Facilitate the coordination for special events hosted in the taproom (field email inquiries, maintain reservation calendar, manage day-of reservation logistics, setup/breakdown for each event).

  • Assist with creation and execution of Standard Operating Procedures for taproom operations (opening/closing checklist, event procedures).


Management Responsibilities:

  • Ensure team is meeting customer service standards and adhering to SOPs.

  • Foster continued growth of the team by leading through example.

    • Maintains knowledge of and complies with all state and local requirements for alcohol and food service.

    • Impeccable service standards with attention to detail and ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced atmosphere with poise.

Communications and Management Team:

  • Communicate weekly with Management Team to review and present tasting room financials, upcoming events, and general operational issues.

  • Communicate weekly with Management Team to discuss strategies for improvement, daily operations, and logistical development as Fair Isle grows.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.

 Assistant  Brewer


This position is a dynamic role which requires an organized, self-motivated, and reliable individual who will work as a part of the team in a startup brewery environment. The Assistant Brewer will be expected to assist with weekly production needs at the direction of the Management Team.


Fair isle is a brewery starting up and thus all employees must be adaptable, agile and excel in working in a fluid environment. We run a skeleton crew, and as such, this role must be flexible and comfortable working all aspects of the brewhouse as necessary. Enthusiasm for working outside your job description is critical to thrive at Fair Isle.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in brewing operations including: cellaring, wort production, cleaning, yeast handling, CIP’s, transferring, etc.

  • Assist in packaging.

  • Assist in oak barrel / foeder work including: cleaning, filling, emptying, and other associated duties.

  • Participating in professional organizations, conferences  and training opportunities.

  • Ensures the highest quality beer is being created in the facility.

  • Maintains brewery in a clean, tour-ready state.

  • Upholds QA/QC standards.

  • Accurate record keeping through Ekos and other ERP software.

  • Excited to lend a hand where needed with a positive attitude.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a production brewery.

  • Technical experience with brewing equipment and/or brewing education strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to positively engage with others.

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • A desire to learn and grow as a professional in our industry.

  • Competence in Microsoft Office, data entry and/or similar applications.

  • A love of beer!


Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for long periods of time (up to 10 hours per day).

  • Ability to move heavy materials (lifting to 55 lbs, moving up to 160 lbs).

  • Routine pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, climbing, bending.
